Buy A Full License, Or Rent Month To Month

Is it a better to deal to purchase a full license, or to rent the software on a monthly basis ? Here are some observations we have heard from clients when making this decision.

Full License

• The upfront cost may be more, but over time, the cost is less. Many of our clients who bought ASW 5 for DOS in the late 80's have decided to operate without support and updates, so they paid off the product upfront and have run for 20 years on the same initial investment.
• Even when considering the cost of the initial investment, and the Developers Partnership Program fee for full support and updates, the cost per month is less then the rental.
• Full License clients have shown a desire for a long term committment, and this is often considered when prioritizing the addition of new features.
• Long Term ( full license ) clients have a lot of experience with the program, and their business, and their input on "user interface" changes makes sense.

Rental Service

• Renter's have a lower startup cost
• Renter's can terminate the service at any time with 30 days written notice ( email is fine but be sure to confirm receipt ).
• Rent includes updates and support services.

Do you need to "rent to be sure" ?

You can rent one of the Auto Shop Writer programs, and anytime during the first year, you can convert to a full license. 50 % of the rental fee ( not including the installation service ) will be credited toward the purchase of a full license. This only applies for a maximum of 12 months, and will apply to all versions of Auto Shop Writer.
